Main tasks & responsibilities
- Platform Migration & Backend Development
- Port microservices from a Kubernetes/Dapr architecture into a C# .NET monolith
- Migrate PostgreSQL schemas to Azure SQL Server while preserving business logic
- Rebuild communication patterns using Azure Service Bus or in-process mechanisms
- Ensure functional parity and minimise regression during migration
- Collaborate on migration sequencing and dependency management
- Testing & Quality Assurance
- Develop unit and integration tests (nUnit) as a core deliverable
- Contribute to performance testing using tools like nBomber and k6
- Participate in code reviews focusing on quality, maintainability, and coverage
- Support automated regression testing with QA/SDET teams
- API & Service Design
- Design and implement scalable C# .NET APIs and backend services
- Apply domain-driven design and clean architectural patterns
- Optimize SQL Server queries and schema performance
- Maintenance & Support
- Debug and troubleshoot using Azure monitoring tools
- Identify and resolve technical debt
- Support ongoing platform stability and improvements
- Team Collaboration
- Communicate progress, risks, and blockers clearly
- Contribute to technical documentation
- Work within CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes (Azure DevOps, Octopus Deploy)
Requirements
- Strong experience with C# / .NET backend development (4+ years)
- Solid understanding of distributed systems and microservices architectures
- Experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL and/or SQL Server)
- Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services (e.g., Service Bus, SQL)
- Experience writing unit and integration tests
- Familiarity with event-driven systems and messaging patterns
- Knowledge of API design and backend architecture best practices
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Nice to have
- Experience migrating microservices → monolith or modular monolith
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and Dapr
- Experience with performance testing tools (nBomber, k6)
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Cake) and deployment tools (Octopus Deploy)
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., OpenAI Codex, Claude Code)
- Understanding of domain-driven design (DDD) principles
