Main tasks & responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize COBOL applications in an IBM i / AS400 environment
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into efficient technical solutions
- Work with relational databases, ensuring data integrity and performance
- Participate in corrective and evolutionary maintenance of legacy systems
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate with modern systems
- Contribute to technical documentation and development best practices
- Support system migration and modernization initiatives
Requirements
- Strong experience with COBOL
- Experience with IBM i / AS400 environment (strongly preferred)
- Knowledge of databases such as SQL Server, DB2, or Elastic
- Experience with version control systems (Git)
- Familiarity with development tools such as Visual Studio
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Fluency in Italian (mandatory)
Nice to have
- Experience in Mainframe environments
- Knowledge of microservices architecture
- Experience with APIs (REST and SOAP)
- Exposure to digital transformation or modernization projects
- Ability to work in hybrid environments (legacy and modern systems)
- Italian language skills
